On the Sidelines: Getting to Know Assistant Coach James Prosser

UCF head men's soccer coach Bryan Cunningham made three new additions to his staff since the end of the 2007 campaign, hiring assistant coaches Jim Cofer and James Prosser and volunteer assistant Mauricio Ruiz. Prosser, who joined the staff on May 19, 2008, will be involved in all aspects of the program, including team and individual training. Before accepting the job at UCF, Prosser had a two-year stint as a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Louisville.

Soccer Game Cancelled

The men's soccer game originally scheduled for last Friday, Sept. 5 against Mercyhurst has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled.

Men's Soccer Tryouts to Be Held September 15, 2008.

The Charlotte 49ers men's soccer team, who have been nationally ranked this season and also were a 2007 A-10 Tournament finalist, are holding tryouts on Monday, September 15, 2008 at 2:00 p.m.

Lyle Adams Named ACC Player of the Week

Wake Forest senior defender Lyle Adams was named ACC Men's Soccer Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday morning. Adams becomes the second straight Demon Deacon to win the award after fellow senior Marcus Tracy received the honor last week.

Milwaukee Men Open Home Schedule Friday With Panther Invitational

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's soccer team opens the home portion of its 2008 schedule by hosting Wisconsin, Binghamton and Cal State Northridge in the 35th Annual Panther Invitational this weekend, the longest-running in-season Division I soccer tournament in the United States. Wisconsin and Cal State Northridge will get things underway at 5 p.m. Friday, followed by UWM taking on Binghamton under the lights at Engelmann Field at 7:30 p.m.

Peacocks Lose Two Tough Matches on Weekend

The men's soccer team came into the weekend with a 2-1 record early in the 2008 season. The Peacocks played two matches on the road, but came away empty in both decisions. On Saturday, Upper Iowa traveled to Waverly, Iowa to compete against the Knights of Wartburg College, while on Sunday, the team traveled to Kenosha, Wisconsin to face the Rangers of UW-Parkside.

A Touch of Luck

It was a shot, a prayer, that seemed to have eyes. But it also was a Louisville shot that had touch which allowed it to be touched just enough by the wind and maybe caressed even more by luck.
