AU Women's Lacrosse Signs 11 Incoming Freshmen and One Transfer for 2009

The American University women's lacrosse team has signed 11 incoming freshman and one transfer for the 2009 season, announced Eagles head coach Katie Woods. Jordan Allen, Kaska Komosinski, Emma Larkin, Paige Lin, Bernadette Maher, Bailey McDonough, Chelsea O'Neill, Emily Reichard, Lauren Schoenberger, Emily Stankiewicz, and Alice Thomson have all signed national letters of intent, while Meghan Kirby comes to AU from Nassau Community College.

The remainder of the schedule features games versus the top teams in the nation - four-time defending NCAA champion Northwestern, Duke, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Princeton.

Lacrosse Class of 2012 Earns Top Ranking

The Boston College Women's Lacrosse Class of 2012 has earned the #10 ranking on Inside Lacrosse Magazine's list of best recruiting classes for 2008. Two members of the class were named Top-25 recruits by the magazine. Freshman defenseman Liz Donovan and midfielder Samantha Taylor were ranked in the top-25 of freshman recruits in the country. Additionally, classmate Ginny Gummersall was included as part of the "watch list" of top recruits.

Penrose added to women's lacrosse staff

Second year women's lacrosse head coach Christy Malone announced on Thursday that Katelyn Penrose will join the program an assistant coach this season. A recent graduate of Cabrini College, Penrose was a four-year letterwinner on the lacrosse team and served as team captain during her final two seasons.

University of Massachusetts women's lacrosse head coach Alexis Venechanos has announced the hiring of Acacia Walker and Kristin Blanchette. Walker, former assistant coach of three-time national champion Northwestern, will serve as the Minutewomen's associate head coach/offensive coordinator, while Blanchette will serve as the team's assistant coach/midfield coordinator. In all, the UMass coaching staff has had a hand in six of the last nine NCAA National Championships.
